Barry Mcgee opening night shenanigans!

As you might expect, epicness.

Walking in you are confronted with this spectacular sight.

This bush grew a human arm and was doing graf during the show.
This piece was the one that made me laugh out load, it looked so rad.
At another erea in the show people were lined up with a 5 minute wait to climb up into a box Barry had built. When you got up in there, it was just a white cube with a motorized figure banging his head on the wall.
Exactly.
Genius.

In light of his new advanced, mature work, Barry showed up looking dapper with a shirt and tie.

Andrew J Wright was there all the way from Philly! And I saw Adam Wallacavage too. I also saw artist Manuel Ocampo, Directors Mike Mills and Miranda July, Artist Rob Clayton, Photographer Atiba Jefferson among hundreds of people mingling about.

RVCA Liz was there, trying to escape my watchful eye.

Barry himself was bombarded non-stop by well wishers, fans, graf kids, and autograph seekers. There was a special catalog/booklet made just for the show. Printed on newsprint, with a hand silkscreened cover. Everyone was getting that signed. I barely got to say hello to him!

Then some guy started fucking with him. Saying weird shit, like. 'I just want to be accepted into your world.' But really sarcastically. I think Barry was not in the mood for it and just WHAM! slapped the dude into a headlock!

It was crazy! Nobody knew what to do.
The guy was super embarrassed and just went limp.

It was super out of character for Barry to do this...

Finally, this dude in the white shirt came in to help.
It was all mellow afterward, security took the dude outside and everyone left to go eat. Great Night!
